Manitoba held a new one last week Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and BC hosted its weekly PNP invitational round.

Most Canadian provinces and territories (with the exception of Quebec and Nunavut) operate their own PNPs. Through these programs, interested candidates may be invited to apply for a provincial nomination. While provincial nomination does not in itself equate to permanent residency, it can greatly increase the chances of permanent residency status.

For example PNP candidates with Express Entry Profiles Anyone who receives a nomination gets 600 points added to their score. You may also be invited to apply for a PNP-specific invitation round. In the last Express Submission drawing, held last week, Canada invited 919 PNP candidates to enter Comprehensive ranking system (CRS) scores of at least 785.

In the past week, two Canadian provinces issued invitations to immigrant candidates as part of their PNPs. These are the details of the new draws.

British Columbia

The province of British Columbia typically holds a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Invitation round on a weekly basis.

Such was the case with this week’s invitation rounds on April 5th British Columbia Province Nominee Program (BC PNP). More than 180 candidates received invitations to compete for a provincial nomination in these draws.

A total of 131 of these candidates were invited by a general draw. These candidates must meet the requirements of one of British Columbia Express entry BC or immigration of skills Categories managed through the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

The candidates who received invitations to this raffle came from the skilled worker, International Graduateand Young professionals and apprentices Subcategories and required a provincial minimum score between 77 and 125 depending on the stream.

For a few weeks now, the state has also been holding rounds of invitations for applicants in certain professions in order to cover the increased need for labor in certain sectors of the economy. This week the Province invited:

  • 43 early childhood educators (NOC 4214) with at least 70 points;
  • 14 healthcare workers with at least 70 points;
  • fewer than five health workers (NOC 3413) with a score of at least 70; and
  • fewer than five animal health technologists and veterinarians (NOC 3114 and NOC 3213) with a score of at least 78.


That Manitoba Province Nominee Program (MPNP) invited 223 candidates to apply on April 7th. The invitations were distributed among three immigration streams:

Of all those invited to apply, 30 had profiles in the Express Entry system.

Those interested in a Manitoba nomination must register an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the MPNP. Manitoba ranks candidate profiles on 1,000 points based on their human capital factors and their ties to the province. The MPNP then publishes invitations to eligible candidates to apply for a provincial nomination at Skilled workers in Manitoba and skilled workers abroad streams.
